It’s been 5 days since I got back from my Panchakarma retreat at the Ayurvedic Institute in NM. Panchakarma is a traditional ayurvedic detoxification program. It includes a specific diet, treatments, and an herb regimen.The goal is to help the body get rid of the waste and come back into balance.

In my opinion a traditional kitchari cleanse is not necessarily suitable for everyone. It is definitely not the fastest way to weightloss, if this is your only goal. Kitchari is pretty dense and can cause gas and bloating in people with Candida or those who have trouble digesting grains and legumes. I personally felt much better eating only lentils with vegetables and no rice. While there were other people who preferred plain rice with ghee and spices. Listen to your body and don’t be afraid to create your own detox rules!
